“I teach because it’s so rewarding to help students, and to share in their triumph when they learn new skills. As a life-long learner myself, I relish the transformative benefits of a sound education. It is a privilege to usher a new generation of citizen scientists through the superbly fulfilling experience of understanding, connecting with and respecting the order of our universe and its inhabitants.”

“I tutor because I love to help students grow better every day and find the true meaning to why they want to learn about the world. As a language learner and a teacher with ESL experience, I understand through first hand experience the struggles of trying to grasp a concept I can’t understand. The ability to help students through this struggle and better themselves is something that pushes me to be the best teacher I can be. I really enjoy one on one environments with students because my teaching style lends itself well to having a genuine conversation with the student while they learn. Because of this I can help teach students not only reading and writing, but also social studies, history, and a variety of other subjects.”
“The satisfying smiles from the students always encourage me to continue assisting the students on what they need in math and science. To me, math is not only about numbers and equations. It develops problem solving skills in real life and opens up the possibilities. Science helps us to understand and explain the phenomena we see daily. I would love to pass my passion about math and science to the students and support their success.”
“I tutor because I enjoy watching students grow academically. When I was a
student, I was enrolled in a variety enrichment programs to supplement my learning in school, so I understand what the experience can be like as a tutee. Many of my teachers/tutors have helped me grasp challenging concepts in the past and I just hope to do the same for my students.”
“I love to see the ‘AHA’ moments when students are connecting with the material – not just because they got the right answer, but because they truly understand the concepts and steps necessary to get there. I invite students to watch, learn, practice and reflect on the lesson. I like to go over what was easy wand what was difficult, working together through the tough spots and giving lots of encouragement and positive feedback. The one-on-one or small group environment lends itself nicely to personalized tutoring and support. I enjoy getting to know each student while customizing the lessons and helping them apply what they’ve just learned.“
Teaching, for me, is about building connections and sparking moments of understanding. I am naturally good with kids, and I believe that fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment helps them feel comfortable to explore new ideas. I love seeing the moment when a student grasps a concept that once felt challenging—those “aha” moments are incredibly rewarding and make all the effort worthwhile.
Every student learns differently, and I enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to tailor my approach to meet their unique needs. Watching them grow, gain confidence, and discover their own abilities is what drives my passion for teaching. Knowing that I have played a part in their success and understanding gives me a sense of accomplishment and joy that is truly special.

“I tutor because I love helping students find those “light bulb” moments where they feel like math clicks and they understand what they’re doing. I love when I am able to support a student alongside their classroom teacher and give the extra support they need to find success. It’s much easier to slow down and focus on areas where a student needs extra time in a one-on-one setting. It’s also a great exercise (for both tutor and student) in patience, persistence, and learning & communication styles!”
